6 Fabulous Fall Deals to Snatch Up

6 Fabulous Fall Deals to Snatch Up
Linsay Thomas

Unless you are living under a rock, you are aware that many retailers hold great sales on Labor Day weekend. But if you missed them because you were out of town, too lazy to get out of bed or for any other reason, do not despair. Many consumers think that the time between Labor Day and Black Friday is relatively quiet on the sales front, but the truth is that there are many great sales to take advantage of. Most of them are not heavily advertised, though, so you need to know what types of items to put on your October shopping list. Here are some savings to look for.

Clothing

If you are looking for tank tops and shorts for next year, late September and early October are the best times to snap up some hot deals. It is not uncommon to get shirts for as low as $1 and shorts for under $5. However, note that sizes and styles will be limited by then.

If you are in need of some jeans and sweaters for fall, you may be able to score discounts of up to 25% by well-known retailers Levi’s, Nordstrom and Bloomingdale’s. You could wait until Black Friday for even better deals, if you want to face crowds, long lines and limited selection.

CarsCars

Although many car buyers wait until the end of the year to purchase a new set of wheels, October is the best time if you like to choose from larger selection while saving money. Most manufacturers will release the 2015 models in September, which means that the “old” 2014 models will need to go. Come October, dealers will be slashing prices by 20% or more and offering incentives to beg you to take these older models off their hands.

Camping Gear

Most people are done camping by October, so stores are eager to clear the shelves for winter items. Retailers such as Cabela’s and REI are sure to offer deep discounts. Find tents, chairs and other accessories for up to 75% off.

School Supplies

By October, your child will likely already have everything he or she needs to succeed in school throughout the year. However, it is never too early to stock up for next year. You and your child can always use extra notebooks, pens and pencils throughout the year, so stock up while the prices are hot.

Outdoor ItemsPatio

If you are looking for a new patio set or grill or just want to spruce up your front yard with some new decorations, October is a great time to do so. These items typically take up a lot of space in a store, so once summer is over, retailers are pricing these items to sell. Expect discounts of 30% or more.

Final Tip: Shop Right Before Halloween

Looking for a good overall sale between Labor Day and Black Friday? Shop online the week before Halloween. You will find a variety of items for as much as 30% off. Choose from electronics, clothes and even Halloween merchandise.
