It was the late 1950s when a couple of brothers decided to go into the pizza business. With a $600 loan from mom, the duo, plus a friend, opened the first Pizza Hut in Wichita, Kansas. It only took a year for the business to take off, and the franchise was on the rise in the 1960s.
