About Barb Szyszkiewicz
I'm the first person to encourage others to use grocery coupons. It's amazing how much money you can save on your everyday grocery purchases by using coupons. And I'll admit that yesterday, when I found an about-to-expire "save $5 on your next purchase" coupon in a pocket of my purse, I made a trip to the supermarket to take advantage of that $5 in free groceries (hello, chicken drumsticks for tonight's dinner!)
But did you know that you can also enjoy, through the Starbucks Digital Network, FREE access to various paid sites and services such as The Wall Street Journal and ESPN online.
How many methods have you tried to clean cracker crumbs, pretzel salt and potato-chip bits from between the keys of your keyboard? Vacuum-cleaner attachments, Q-tips, blow dryers and canned air are never quite up to the challenge.
It was just like a fairy tale--horse-drawn carriage and all. We all wanted her dress. And her hair. The jewelry was in demand too. (The husband, not so much.)
You can breathe easier about that now, as national jewelry seller Tween brands has pledged to eliminate the toxic metal cadmium from bracelets, necklaces, and other items it sells.
Cadmium has recently been found to cause neurological damage, much like lead does. It can also damage the kidneys and bones, and is a known carcinogen.
Most baby dolls come with a bottle; some of these toy bottles even have that fake white liquid inside, that moves when you tip the bottle to "feed" the doll.
This new doll doesn't come with a bottle at all; you see, it's designed to encourage breastfeeding.
"You might have to wear makeup for the show," I told him. "What do you think about that?"
Few things are more dangerous than a teenager with a camera phone. My daughter, still almost two years away from legal driving age, has spent the past couple of years tormenting her older brother's friends about their parking skills.
When they visit, they park in the street in front of our house. She has taken it upon herself to be the Parking Police.
These moms are enrolled in MomPrep, a training academy for well-heeled moms-to-be.
Or should I say high-heeled moms-to-be?
One of my favorite episodes of "I Love Lucy" is the one where Lucy and Ethel unwittingly buy identical dresses for a charity fund-raiser. After they each break their promise to return the dress, they wind up onstage at the fund-raiser, tearing pieces off each other's gowns in a fit of anger.
It's much the same for teenage girls, currently in the midst of Prom Season.
April is Grilled Cheese Month! That may be, but my favorite time to eat grilled cheese is August, when I can get garden-fresh Jersey tomatoes for my sandwiches. I wonder if there's any way to lobby for moving this observance...
April 6 is Drowsy Driver Awareness Day! Drink more coffee. Eat peppermints. Open the window. Turn the radio up loud. Pull over and take a nap. But whatever you do, if you're sleepy, don't drive.
