Show Some School Spirit
The days of women slaving away in the kitchen while their men watch sports are far behind us. That is apparent, since the Collegiate Licensing Company found women’s apparel to be one of the top sellers in the 2012-2013 academic year. As more and more companies vie for a piece of the pie, you will be inundated with choices. So, where do you start? Get ready for long days of tailgating with a wardrobe that shows your pride!
Victoria’s Secret Pink Collegiate Collection
Victoria’s Secret has been offering collegiate apparel for select universities and colleges for a while now, but they’ve upped their game and now have 65 schools to choose from! Some can only be found in stores, while others are exclusive to their online store. Syracuse fans will love this Syracuse University Mesh Bling Boyfriend Jersey ($59.95), which has been adorned with sequins. Maybe you need something a little warmer so you can cheer on the University of Michigan football team in style? This Bling Gym Crew ($64.95) will do the trick, and make you stand out in the crowd.
Touch by Alyssa Milano
Everyone’s favorite boss, Alyssa Milano, has been designing sports apparel made especially for women fans for a while now. While most of her gear is inspired by professional leagues, she has chosen 25 colleges and universities to feature in her current collection. Virginia Tech Hokies can show their school spirit with this Vintage Long Sleeve Thermal ($19.99). Pair it with this Full Zip Sweater Mix Jacket ($55.99) to finish off your outfit. Check to see if your school is lucky enough to be featured in this chic collection.
Lady Fanatics carries items for pretty much any college or university you could think of. I can’t wait tosport this San Diego State Aztecs V-Neck ($34.95) in support of my alma mater. Some of the clothing, including this shirt, allows you to choose which sport you want to be featured. To finish off the look, I plan on pairing it with these SDSU Aztecs Argyle Crew Socks ($5.95). I’m 99.9% sure your school will be featured on the Lady Fanatics site.
The Gameface Company
You may recognize this product if you watch the show “Shark Tank.” The young entrepreneurs who started the company made a deal with billionaires Mark Cuban and Lori Greiner. The Gameface Company makes it easy to paint your face in school colors for the big game. You simply place the breathable mask ($5.99) on your face, and when the game is over you can easily peel it off. The best part? You don’t have to wear makeup when you wear these faces (although a little mascara and lip gloss wouldn’t hurt).
Dockers stepped into the collegiate world with their introduction of Game Day Khakis ($70). These colorful slacks can be worn with a simple white tee for those who are looking for something a little simpler than sequins. Each pair is adorned with a small team logo, right above the back pocket. With over 40 of the top schools in the nation to choose from, there’s a good chance your team is included.
Now that you’ve got your outfits for an entire season, it’s time to start planning parties! What will you bring to the pot luck? Just make sure it’s not anything that will stain your new digs.
