What to Expect for Black Friday - A Preview
The holidays are upon us, which means one thing: Black Friday. It seems as though the deals get better and better every year. Should you spend the day after Thanksgiving relaxing after eating such a large meal, or should you be camped out in front of your favorite store avoiding being trampled on by thousands of other shoppers? Read on for some early predictions for Black Friday 2014.
Expect a Long Event
Black Friday is no longer just one day. Expect stores to be offering sales the entire week, starting as early as Monday and lasting until Cyber Monday. Walmart, Target, Kmart, Macy’s and Best Buy will be open on Thanksgiving this year, so if you are looking to start your holiday shopping after dinner, check out the ads from these retailers. And if you would rather sleep in the day after Thanksgiving than brave the mall before sunrise, you will have plenty of opportunities to grab Christmas presents at awesome prices well beforehand.
If you are in need of a new TV, Black Friday might be your chance to get the best deals of the year. You would be hard-pressed to find a better deal any other time. Stores will offer doorbusters on TVs in a variety of sizes, but look for the lowest prices on smaller TVs manufactured by lesser-known brands. Larger TVs (75+ inches) will be available as well, but expect to pay a little more.
Pay Less for Electronics
If you are looking for a new tablet or laptop, wait until Black Friday. You will be able to purchase 7-8 inch tablets for under $30. Although tablets are “in,” laptops are still in demand and you will see huge savings - $100 off or more – from many retailers. In fact, you should be able to easily find high-quality laptops for under $300. Looking for a desktop computer? There will be several available for under $250.
Pay Attention to the Perks
Look for retailers to sweeten the already-sweet deals by adding cool bonuses to your purchase, such as gift cards, rebates and store credits on various big-ticket items.
Retailers are looking to attract consumers who primarily shop through their mobile devices and those who would rather sit at home on Black Friday than face angry mobs. Therefore, expect to find some great deals online. Stores may not offer the exact same deals online that they offer in-store, but you should still be able to find some hot offers on highly-coveted items, especially those in the fashion category.
Shop the Largest Retailers for the Hottest Deals
Walmart, Target, Kmart, Best Buy, Toys R Us and Amazon are the retailers reported to have the best sales. Whether you are looking for deals on toys, clothes, electronics or home items, you are sure to find what you need at these stores at the lowest prices of the year.
