Gone are the days of vanishing Tickle Me Elmo dolls and Zu Zu Pets that disappear off store shelves in a matter of minutes. This year the hottest holiday toys are guaranteed to be under your Christmas tree thanks to a new program unveiled by Toys 'R' Us. The Hot Toy Reservation program gives parents a chance to wow their kids without having to fight crowds. But don't plan on showing up to your local toy store the day before Christmas. Check out these tips for taking full advantage of this new way of shopping for the hottest holiday toys of 2012.

In years past, parents had to frantically shop for the hottest holiday toys, often visiting multiple retailers and even bidding up products on eBay. But for the first time ever Toys 'R' Us is changing the game by creating the Hot Toy Reservation program. "At Toys 'R' Us, we live and breathe toys 365 days a year, and we've spent the past 12 months scouring the world for the most amazing new toy introductions to offer our customers this Christmas," said Lisa Harnisch, Senior Vice President, General Merchandising Manager, Toys"R"Us, U.S. "Putting together this official guide to holiday toy shopping is never easy, but our track record for identifying the hottest toys of the season year after year is well established.  That's why we're excited also to introduce our first-ever Hot Toy Reservation program, providing gift givers the ability to obtain any of the 50 toys we – as THE toy authority – believe will be among the most sought-after playthings of the season."

In order for a purchase to be eligible for the Hot Toy Reservation program it must make it on to Toys 'R' Us' list of the top 50 hottest toys. Some of the toys that made the list for 2012 include the Lalaloopsy Silly Hair Star Doll, the Illumivor Radio Controlled Shark and the Tabeo 7" kids' tablet. Print out this list of all 50 toys before heading to the store to enroll in the Hot Toy Reservation program.

Act Now to Take Advantage

This program will not work well for procrastinators. Once you've decided what you want to buy your little ones this holiday season, take your printed list to the Guest Services desk at your local Toys 'R' Us store. You will then be required to put a 20-percent deposit down on your purchase. The deadline for signing up is October 31st. You will receive an email notification once your order is ready for pick up. According to store rules you have until December 16 to pick up your order and pay the balance of your bill.

Program Requires Holiday Help

The Hot Toy Reservation program isn't just good news for parents. It's also good news for those looking for work. Toys 'R' Us announced it will hire 45,000 seasonal employees in preparation for the holidays. That's a 13-percent increase compared to last year. In addition to helping fulfill orders from the "Buy Online, Pick Up In Store," "Ship from Store" and "Ship to Store" programs, workers will also be preparing pickup orders for customers who use the Hot Toy Reservation program. So whether you're shopping for the most popular toys of 2012 or for a holiday job, Toys 'R' Us may have exactly what you need.
