Does Kmart Charge Sales Tax for Online Purchases?

Kmart is a mega store, with multiple locations, a widely-recognized name, and a large online catalog of products to purchase at low prices and yes, they charge Sales Tax. Kmart is one of those companies that we’ve all heard of. They have partnered with other stores to carry a wider variety of products, like Sears, Lands End and Craftsman.

Shopping Online Is Easy

To shop exclusively at Kmart, click on the “Kmart” tab on top and then click on a department on the left side of the screen.  When adding an item to your cart, you will also notice that on the right side of the screen it will let you know if something is on sale or has a special discount or special shipping fee.

Where Does the Tax Calculate

Your subtotal appears on the right side showing what the price would be with shipping, and any applicable discounts. You have the option to also select which day you want the item to arrive and it shows the shipping cost for each selection.

When purchasing items from Kmart.com, as in the store, Kmart will charge the applicable state sales tax on your online purchase. That will be calculated once you enter your own address in the registration screens of the checkout process.
