Everybody hates reruns. And we don't just mean the kind you get sick of on TV. How many times have you gotten a gift for your birthday that you already have? Yep, it can be a real drag. Well, thanks to online Wish Lists (a.k.a. Gift Registries), you can put an end to all that. If you've ever been married or bought someone a wedding/engagement gift, you're probably familiar with a Bridal Registry. If not, well, that's where the bride-to-be and her fiancé head to some fancy department store and walk around selecting all the items they'd love to get as wedding gifts. Their list is entered into a computer and printed out for anyone who's shopping around the country. When someone buys something off your registry, it's noted on the list so someone else doesn't buy the same thing. Well, online Wish Lists work under the same principle. Just visit any number of registry sites and input some personal information about yourself, including what gifts you're hoping to score. Thing is, you don't have to be getting married to fill out a registry. It can be for any holiday including birthdays, anniversaries, graduation, a new baby, you name it. After you've filled out your list, the site will usually e-mail all the people you tell it to, so they're aware you've created the list. Then as people buy you your gifts (you lucky dog, you!), the site will make note of the items purchased to prevent any duplication. Of course, you can also look through other people's Wish Lists for gift-giving ideas. Just ask your friends and family if they've set up their own Wish Lists. If not, tell 'em all about it. If they have, well half your work's already done. Just log onto their site, check out their wish lists and buy away! Oh, and keep in mind that some sites actually have charity sections which let people donate money to whatever charity you've listed, rather than buying you a gift.
