Known as the “Queen of Curl,” Ouidad grew up as a curly-haired child in Lebanon, where her mother despaired of knowing how to style her hair and she was teased at school for her unruly curls. In 1973, she moved to the United States and began working as a hair stylist, winning many awards over the years and working on major ad campaigns. Ouidad began experimenting with creating her own products, especially developed for curly hair, and in 1984 she opened the first salon specializing in curly hair in New York City. In 1995, she launched her first mass-market product line, and founded the Ouidad.com website in 1996. Ouidad products are dedicated to helping women celebrate their curls. They are gentle, water-soluble and created to constantly replenish moisture in the hair. You can shop the website by product type, curl type or specific hair repair concern, and locate Ouidad salons.
