Finally, someone has come up with workout clothing that not only lets us look chic and feel great at the gym, but is so attractive that we don’t even have to change out of it afterwards. Back in 1996, lululemon founder Chip Wilson was inspired by a yoga class. Drawing on over 20 years of sporting experience, he foresaw the upsurge in yoga’s popularity, but found the clothing available to be completely inadequate. Rather than being relegated to sweat in cotton gym clothes, Chip developed a line of attractive yoga apparel made of technologically-advanced athletic fabrics, and chose the name lululemon for his new company. Originating as a design/yoga studio, lululemon opened its first retail apparel store in 2000. In addition to selling its popular workout wear, a large part of the company’s focus is on educating customers and the community about the physical and mental aspects of healthy living.
