Headquartered in Paris, France, Lancôme is one of the largest cosmetics companies in the world and one of the Most Valuable Brands according to Forbes Magazine. Lancôme’s long history began in the mid-1930s when the brand was founded by Armand Petitjean. Petitjean derived the name Lancôme from Le Château de Lancosme, a former chateau in France whose ruins were surrounded by roses. Lancôme started out with three main product areas: perfume, beauty care and makeup. In 1964, Lancôme was purchased by L’Oréal, who is still in ownership of the brand today. They are well-known for many products, including Tresor Eau de Parfum, Juicy Tubes, Definicils mascara, and L’Absolu lipstick, and celebrities featured in Lancôme campaigns include Kate Winslet, Penelope Cruz and Julia Roberts. Today Lancôme can be found at department stores, specialty stores or through their website. With over 80 years of experience in the cosmetics industry, Lancôme continues to offer their classic items as well as innovative new products.
