Back in 2005, art student Adam "Ace" Moyer noticed a weird trend in eyewear — everyone was donning the same shades in the same styles and the same colors; the industry had become stagnant. Moyer decided to kick around the status quo a bit, crafting a brand called Knockaround, whose styles were original without being fashion-runway outrageous. For five years, he was the only employee, designing, making and shipping out all of his creation by hand. Soon enough, though, the brand became so popular (with celebrities clamboring to wear them) that he expanded the business. Today, Knockaround isn't just known for their iconic glasses — they sell shorts, hats and t-shirts as well.
