Kaplan began in the late 1930s as AIC and Kaplan Inc., two separate businesses with the common goal of helping people become better educated. At the time the only people that were able to get into higher learning institutes were the wealthy or long-established American citizens. Stanley H. Kaplan believed that with proper test training, anyone could achieve their dreams of a college education. They joined forces and became Kaplan University. Today that philosophy is still held by Kaplan University, by providing test preparation, degree programs, and professional certifications for anyone who has a desire to further their career. Now anyone with the desire and a little spare time can obtain a college degree.
