In 1860, the store that would eventually become famous for its iconic shopping bag, was proud to carry the most fashionable hoop skirts available. Fortunately for shoppers, Bloomingdale's soon broke with the tradition of specializing in a single item and began offering its female buyers a wide variety of fashions. It was truly the first "Department Store." Today, Bloomingdale's continues that tradition. From classic pieces to the latest fashions, buyers of all ages, shapes and sizes will find their look at Bloomingdale's. Bloomingdale's shoppers can even say they've walked in the footsteps of royalty. Queen Elizabeth herself stopped by for a look at the New York store in the 1970s.
