Many brides and grooms spend tons of time and energy planning every intricate detail of their weddings, and when the wedding is over, it can feel like a let down. All that build and now BAM! Over. It doesn’t have to be that way, though. There are plenty of ways you can keep the wedding fun going even after the big day is over. Try some of these fun, quirky projects to stretch that celebratory feeling!

Make an Atrociously Awesome Album

Of course you’re planning to make an album of the best pictures from your wedding. Everyone does it! You might even be getting a photo book as part of your photography package. Take this tradition one step further by selecting the funniest and/or worst photos from your wedding and making a slideshow that guests can view online. We’re talking photos of people making weird faces, dance floor candids, and messy faces. Just make sure you get guests’ permission before posting these potentially embarrassing photos of them online for all to see. Some people don’t have a sense of humor when it comes to unflattering portraits.

Say Thank You!

Get creative with your Thank You cards! If you have a printer that prints photos nicely, include pictures of you with the guest you’re thanking, or take a photo of you and your spouse posing with the gift they gave you, maybe in the area of the house where you’d use it. If they gifted you new sheets, take of photo of yourselves relaxing in bed. If they got you a crockpot, take a photo of yourselves dumping ingredients into it to make a nice stew.

Get Rid of Gaudy Gifts

All brides and grooms get a few gifts they would never in a million years use. Get rid of yours. You can either give them away or try to make a profit. For the former, try hosting a swap party where everyone brings housewares and other items they don’t want. Let guests take home your unwanted gifts. Your trash just might be their treasure. Anything that’s left over can be donated to a store like Goodwill. If you want to turn a profit, sell your gifts on eBay. eBay has tutorials for people who’ve never sold before, so don’t be scared of you’re an eBay newbie. Be careful though; if the gift is from your grandma and it's something she'll expect to see displayed, keep it in storage and bring it out just for her visits. You don't want to hurt any feelings.

Make a Magical Montage

Make a video montage using video of your wedding. Pick something funny, like people laughing, doing crazy dance moves, or eating cake, and make your own film to share with guests. It’s a fun memory you’ll keep forever. If you haven’t had your wedding yet, you could do something fun like have all the guests answer a question on video, and make a montage out of the best answers. Fun questions would be: What did you first think of (blank) when you met him/her? What song would you pick for this couple's first dance and why? If this couple were animals, what animals would they be?

Share Your Wedding Savvy

If you feel like your wedding was particularly successful, why not share your ideas with others? Start a blog with tips on wedding planning, or if you’re really good, think about a career change. Maybe you’d make a great wedding planner, and you never even knew it until you planned your own with such great results. Try hiring out your services for super cheap, and see what happens!

Shred Your Invitations, Rip Up Your Dress

There are always a lot of leftover things from a wedding that sit around because of their value as “keepsakes." Don’t let that big pile of unused invitations and other paper products gather dust! Don’t let your wedding dress sit in the dark in the closet for 30 years just because you think your daughter might like to wear it. She won’t. She has her own style. Try a fun craft project to make a great keepsake that you can actually enjoy! Shred your invitations and use them as packing materials when you give gifts to your loved ones. Shredded invitations can also be used to make fun keepsake ornaments. Now, what to do with that dress? If you’re good with a needle and thread, try making a quilt! It could be a small quilt to hang on the wall, or a big one for your bed. Try buying fabric in your wedding colors to make the quilt more colorful, or buy back those hot pink shantung dresses from your bridesmaids that they’ll never wear again and incorporate that fabric. You could also make pretty throw pillows, placemats, hot pads, and tons more out of your dress and bridesmaids dresses depending on the material. Use your imagination and make something great.

What did you do after your wedding besides the usual album and Thank You cards? If you have a great idea, we want to know about it!
