In my kitchen, the most-used cookbook is a binder full of recipes I've collected from family members and other sources and adapted so they're just the way my family likes them.
Over the years, that binder started to fall apart; it was time for a new one. While I was able to find a new binder that was the right size quite easily, it wasn't as easy to find something that had the right look. That plain black binder that I finally purchased serves the purpose very well. But it's so boring to look at, and this binder is on display in my kitchen all the time.
So I asked my daughter to make a collage that I could mount on the front of the binder. I was looking for something made up of cooking-related words. And I imagined that she'd dive into my stacks of old magazines, cut words out, and make up a nice collage.
Instead, she found her way to a website and generated a "word cloud." It took her 15 minutes and involved no glue whatsoever. No muss, no fuss--and really nice results.
