I've had a Kindle for about six months now.  My husband's primary motivation for purchasing an e-reader for me was to reduce the number of printed books in the house.

So far, that hasn't happened.

I've bought at least as many print books in the past 6 months as e-books.  E-books' advantage in terms of portability is indisputable, but that hasn't made much difference in my book-buying habits.  In fact, if I'm going to buy a book for myself, I am far more likely to purchase the print edition, even when I'm buying online.

I mentioned this to my husband, and he wasn't puzzled at all by it.  "When you buy a book," he explained, "you get something to take home, if you're in the store.  If you buy it online, you get something in the mail.  It's not the same when the book is downloaded to your device, even if it happens instantly."

He's right.  While I love the convenience of the Kindle, I really, really like getting packages.
