The good thing about sending your kids to a school where uniforms are worn is that there are no arguments about what they'll wear to school.

The bad thing about sending your kids to a school where uniforms are worn is that when an item needs replacement, it's not as easy as going around the corner to Target.  My younger son's school requires charcoal gray paints, and they can only come from one store.  That store is in Philadelphia--it's not in my area code, let alone my zip code.  So if we need to replace some uniform parts in a hurry, we have to have an hour and a half to spare.

Murphy's Law of Uniforms states that a child who rips the knees out of his uniform pants will be sure to ruin the newest pair he owns--not the ones that are already on their second school year and unlikely to make it for year #3.

Yes, he ripped both knees out of uniform pants that feature reinforced knees.  And when I checked the website for the only company that provides these particular school pants, I discovered that they offer a guarantee on their uniforms.  A full year on most items--but only 30 days on the knees of pants.

Next year, when I buy this child some new uniforms, I'll be adding patches to the insides of those already-reinforced knees, since he has proven that double knees are not enough.
