It seems like they've been rehearsing forever, but tonight it's finally Opening Night for the spring musical at my daughter's high school. She and her younger brother have been practicing for weeks. She's begun threatening him with bodily harm if he doesn't stop singing the "Munchkinland" song (and frankly, I'm getting a little tired of it myself.)
But whether I want to hear about the Lollipop Guild, the Merry Old Land of Oz, or what's Over the Rainbow or not, it's time to spend the next few evenings in the audience, marveling at what happens when a cast of over 100 takes the stage.
To get a good seat--and a souvenir copy of the playbill--I'm going to have to get there early. We may have the widest stage in Burlington County, NJ, but I'm sure that other schools boast more seating capacity in their auditoriums. Tickets go fast, and I don't want to be stuck behind some tall guy with a hat when I'm trying to see my Munchkins in their stage debut.
