No matter where she goes, no matter what time of day it is, my daughter is always carrying a weapon. 
She doesn't even bother to conceal it. Her weapon of choice is a rubber band. Since she has long hair, she's always well-supplied with elastic bands to keep her ponytail out of her way. But they come in handy for other things as well.
One recent weekend, she took aim at her older brother when he wasn't paying attention. Suddenly, there was a full-scale war going on, right in my living room. That wouldn't have been so bad, but before I knew it, there were several teenagers armed with rubber bands and taking aim at my ceiling fan. They weren't trying to take out the stained glass lights, but instead, they wanted to get the elastics up onto the fan blades. Then they planned to turn the fan on HIGH and watch the rubber bands fling off.
Now I understand why I'm always finding rubber bands in really weird places, like behind the living-room bookcase. But on the plus side, I know that my daughter has very accurate aim; she could defend herself with hair elastics if necessary.
