When it came time to bring Mr. College Student back to the dorm after Christmas break, it took all five of us to bring his stuff to the dorm room.  (Mostly that's because he was carrying a guitar, an electric bass, a mandolin, and several weeks' supply of Dr. Pepper).

One thing we noticed when we arrived in his dorm room was the Wall of Crayon Art.  My son's roommate has a small box of crayons on his desk, and friends had used those crayons to draw pictures to be hung on the wall.  On the way home, my other kids decided that they, too, needed to contribute to the Wall of Art.

"I'm making a picture for your wall," my daughter told her brother on facebook soon after that.  She mentioned colored pencils, and was immediately informed that only crayon drawings are allowed on the wall.  Proving that her need for fame was more important than loyalty to her favorite medium, she dropped the pencils in favor of a big box of Crayolas.

Meanwhile, Mr. Third Grader thought long and hard about the picture he'd draw for his big brother.  He finally settled on making a picture of his brother's electric bass.  It looked pretty good, until he decided to draw a black box around it to represent its case.  I mailed the picture, only to get a phone call from my college student a couple of days later.  "I got the picture Mr. Third Grader made me," he said.  "I want to thank him, but I can't tell what it is."
