Are you a Super-fan? Are you ready for some football?
The only one in my household who's interested in the actual football game that will be played this Sunday is Mr. Third Grader. "Can I stay up and watch the whole Super Bowl?" he begged.
Hmmm. The game starts at 6:30 PM. There's a good chance that he'll get to see the entire first half, but according to my local TV listings, the game is expected to run until 10:00. After that, it's time for the postgame show. I know my son well enough to know that if he finds out that there's going to be a postgame show, he'll want to watch that too. This is the child who watches SportsCenter while eating his bowl of oatmeal before school.
I offered to let him watch until halftime. Last year he got to see the halftime show, but in our family, we're more interested in The Who than the Black Eyed Peas.
He didn't want to stop watching at halftime. "But I need to see the outcome!"
It's going to take a lot more convincing, but he's not going to be staying up for the third and fourth quarters. Hopefully he'll come to the conclusion that half a Bowl is better than none.
