iPhone wannabes who aren't AT&T customers rejoiced over the news that the iPhone will be available for Verizon customers as early as next week.  In fact, if you're already a Verizon wireless customer, you can order your iPhone now.

I've been watching this topic on social media with great interest.  People are posting on Facebook and Twitter about how excited they are to switch from Droid to iPhone.  But earlier this week, there's been some buzz about why it might be better to wait.  Apple's bringing out a new version of the iPhone this summer.   Here are some of the features the iPhone 5 is rumored to include:

  • scratch-resistant, shatter-resistant screen
  • dual core processors
  • 4G capability
  • thinner body design
  • longer battery life
  • a minimum of 32G of space and 64G of memory
  • built-in GPS

So, is it worth it to wait until the summer?  That's for you to decide. If you're considering jumping over from AT&T with an existing iPhone, be aware that you'll need to replace your device with a different carrier, though you can port your phone number over.
