It's been a cold winter so far this year in the Northeast. Despite the chill, however, my daughter has yet to wear the new winter 
jacket that she insisted she had to have back in October. It's a cute jacket. She picked it out herself. Then she told me I should get one too, and since it was priced right, I did get one. But she got the color I wanted; I had to go for my second choice. And she doesn't even wear the jacket!
Every day she stands outside in the cold (and sometimes the snow), waiting for the school bus, wearing a hoodie over her school uniform. No hat, no gloves, no coat. I stand down the block at her little brother's bus stop, bundled up in my long coat, with a scarf and gloves.
Apparently she's not alone. I ran into a friend of ours the other day; he had just helped the Boy Scouts pack their gear for a ski trip. He mentioned that there was at least one teenage boy among the Scouts who didn't bring anything warmer than a hoodie to wear on the mountain.
I get chills just thinking about it. Where's my sweater?

With President's Day coming up, you should tell your daughter about former president Harrison. Who didn't wear the proper coat to his inaugural speech, caught Pnemonia and died shortly after he took office. A little dark, but it may help!
