Sometimes the best part about watching a little-kid basketball game is eavesdropping on the conversations in the stands.  Such as they are--we sit in folding chairs along the side of the gym.

Last time Mr. Third Grader had a basketball game, a group of high-school-age players gathered during the second half, waiting for their turn on the court.  Most of these guys were old enough to drive themselves to the gym, and some of them were absolutely merciless in their criticism of the eight-year-olds' skills.

I'm guessing that one of these teens has younger siblings, because he called out his companions on this.  "They're in third grade," he reminded them.

"When I was in third grade," Mr. Big Stuff bragged, "I could shoot a buzzer beater from anywhere on the court.  Every time.  Swish!"

"You could not," his teammates replied.

"Every time," Mr. Big Stuff continued.   "I've got it on video!  I'll bring it next time."
