Do you let your dog sleep in your bed?  How about your cat?

A survey shows that up to 56% of dog owners--and 62% of cat owners--allow their pets to sleep in their beds.  While it may provide some Norman-Rockwell-cute moments, doctors at the  California Department of Health suggest that this isn't such a great idea.

Apparently, dogs and cats share more than companionship when they sleep in your bed.  Besides the fleas and ticks that you might expect, they can carry some surprising germs such as:

  • MRSA
  • parasites such as hookworms and roundworms
  • cat-scratch disease
  • and even the Bubonic Plague!

That's enough to make you consider getting your dog or cat his own bed, and sharing yours with a Pillow Pet instead.
