The other day at school I was talking to the librarian about e-readers, and I mentioned that while I really do enjoy my Kindle,
I don't use it at home much. Home is where I read library books or books that are too big or heavy to fit well in my handbag. The Kindle is great for on-the-go reading, however. Since I've always been known to have more than one book going at once, this doesn't generally pose a problem.
The Kindle has been great when I'm sitting around in waiting rooms or at soccer practice. But the one time recently when I really could have used it, I decided to travel light and just slipped my wallet and phone into my pocket. That was the day that I attended report-card conferences at the high school. I had to stand in lines for upwards of 20 minutes to see some of her teachers; all in all, I spent nearly two hours at conferences and I only met with three teachers. That's a lot of time wasted, staring at the back of the person in front of me.
Next conference day, I'm bringing the Kindle.

One Response to “Reading On Line”
I don't think I could get used to reading books on an electronic device like a Kindle - words always look a bit 'cleaner' on the page than they do on a screen (more defined, less grainy).
