Mr. Third Grader came home from school the other day with his class portrait. It's always fun to look at those. Year after year, it's the same thing.
It takes all kinds to make a class portrait, and with 24 in the group, the third grade seems to have at least one of each. So who's in the picture?
- The Grimace: the boy standing right in front of the teacher who looks like he's being poked in the back and forced to smile.
- The Blinker: because no portrait's complete without one of these.
- The Stoic: you can't make him smile. He's just going to sit there and look intense.
- The Tipper: there are two of these (one of whom is also a Grimace.) These are the kids who tilt their heads at unnatural angles in every picture, possibly because their neck is not strong enough to support their noggins.
- Out of Uniform: if the kids are in uniform, there's always somebody who's got to be different. In this picture, one girl is wearing a red sweater with her uniform, and one of the boys is wearing shorts.
- Bad Hair Day: at least one per gender.
- The Maniac: cute in real life, this kid does not photograph well. If you were to look at this class picture and finger the future mass murderer, he's the one you'd pick.
- The Angel: always a girl, and sometimes also a Tipper. You know the one: she's got a beauty-contest smile.
