An October survey showed that smartphones and other technology are not the sole domain of the young:  the median age of a tech-savvy mobile employee is 46.

My husband disagrees.  Although he uses technology every day in his line of work as a computer programmer, he fights mobile devices tooth and nail.  He barely remembered to carry his cell phone (and when he did have it, most of the time it wasn't charged.)  Then his employer decided that he needed to have a BlackBerry so he could receive updated information at all times.

The kids had to teach him how to send and receive text messages.  And half the time he forgets to charge his device, so it's entirely useless.  He won't carry it outside of work, so he's just as unreachable as he was before he got the BlackBerry.

On the other hand, I'm usually the one who resists new technology.  But we seem to be reversing those roles lately.  I couldn't wait to start using Windows 7, and I love trying out new apps on my iPod touch.  My husband has had that BlackBerry for months now, and has yet to download a single app.  So who's the techie now?
