We're big fans of "Calvin and Hobbes" comics around here. I remember one where Calvin wakes up early Christmas morning,
only to discover that Santa hadn't left anything for his tiger, Hobbes.
Not every pet might be so understanding as the stuffed tiger in this cartoon. But a recent survey found that more dogs than cats will find something under the Christmas tree this year. 56% of dog owners buy gifts for their pets, compared to only 48% of cat owners.
What if you own some other kind of pet? I wonder what my neighbors did. They own a dog and a lizard. Considering that only the dog made it into the Christmas-card picture with their kids (and was even listed among the family names on the card), my guess is that the lizard's stocking was empty--if he had a stocking at all.
If you neglected your pet on Christmas morning, it's not too late to make up for it now.
