My daughter and her very best friend have developed an interest in an unusual musical genre: big band and swing. That's not the kind of thing you usually hear teenagers listening to.
But the second she hops into my car, Miss Freshman is changing the radio station to the satellite '40s program.
If she had her way, it would be all "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" all the time.
When I was her age, you couldn't pay me to listen to that stuff. I'd just figured out how to gracefully escape when my dad tuned in to the Lawrence Welk Show every Sunday night and expected us to sit there and watch it with him. (Worse yet, he wanted us to enjoy it.)
I guess the big band gene skipped a generation. But I won't argue. When I consider what else is on the radio, I figure I'm lucky that she wants to listen to Dean Martin, Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters.

That is awesome your daughter listens to 40s style music. Beats the heck out of punk rock or rap. I am going to have to tell my daughter all the cool kids are listening to 40s style music and see if I can get her hooked!!
She seems to like a little of almost everything. I'm glad she is open to trying out new (or old) kinds of music! Hope your daughter tries it and likes it.
