Mr. College Student registered for next semester's classes last week.  We know what that means:  it's time to buy the textbooks!

Fortunately I've got a couple of months so I can take my time finding the best deals.  His professors have posted the necessary titles, so once I have the complete list I can start textbook shopping.

But Mr. College Student is not the only one in my family who's been studying on campus.  My dad has been doing that for years.  He holds a master's degree and teaches at a college, but his on-campus studying has gone beyond that.  Whenever he's had the chance to visit a college or university--as a parent of a prospective student, an attendee at a special campus event, or more recently an elderhostel participant--he'll visit the library and spend a little time reading a nonfiction book.  After that, he'll boast to friends and family members that he "studied on the campus" of that particular university.  Tuition-free, to boot!
