I spend my Tuesday mornings at school, volunteering in the library. This is the fourth year I've been helping the school librarian, 
and it's turned out to be a very enjoyable job.
It's fun to sit in the rocking chair and read stories to the kindergarten, and to help the little kids find books about their favorite subjects (baseball, dogs and ducks are big right now with the primary-school set).
But when the little kids leave the library, they leave a huge mess behind. Last week it looked like a hurricane had hit the easy-reader section. So while the librarian taught the seventh-graders about using reference materials without plagiarizing, I sorted out the picture books.
After forty-five minutes of sorting and re-shelving, the little-kid section of the library was once again neat and tidy. I love jobs like that, where you can instantly see the results of your work.
I know full well, though, that when I go back in there this morning, that job will be ready for me to do all over again.
