One of my cousins was married recently, and all of us had a great time attending the wedding and reception.

At the beginning of the reception, though, there were two people who didn't seem to be having a very good time at all.  In fact, they looked like they'd rather be anywhere but there.  These people were the two junior ushers, who were probably anywhere between 10 and 13 years old.

They were happy enough during the cocktail hour, since there were plenty of fun appetizers to be eaten.  But there they were in their uncomfortable tuxedos, and at the beginning of the reception, they were expected to line up for the procession of the wedding party and--even worse--dance.

I'd venture to say that at least one of these two young boys was still in the "girls have cooties" stage, judging by the looks on their faces when the DJ announced that the wedding party was going to join the bride and groom in the last part of their first dance.  They looked like they wanted to sink into a hole in the dance floor, and froze in place, perhaps hoping that if they didn't move, they'd be invisible.

That didn't work too well.  The junior bridesmaids were there in their pretty dresses with their hair and nails all done, and they wanted to dance.  So they started grabbing the boys by the arms to drag them out on the dance floor.  Every parent in the room who has ever had a preteen was laughing at this sight.

Later, the boys warmed up to the whole idea of dancing--as long as they could do the kind of dancing that didn't involve (eek!) touching a girl.
