Check it before you use it! Make sure the items in your home and workplace aren't listed on this month's safety recalls.
- Appliances: GE Profile and Monogram dishwashers, which can catch fire, have been recalled. Frigidaire and Electrolux smooth-top cooktops are recalled as well.
- Outdoor items: Briggs and Stratton riding mowers (sold at Sears) are recalled due to injury hazards. John Deere has recalled mowers as well. Ross Stores has recalled the Iron Lover's Bench, which can tip over when only one person sits on it.
- Sports equipment: Bravo Sports has recalled trampolines which can collapse during use. Easton Sport has recalled bicycles equipped with a faulty seat clamp.
- Books: Yes, books! A series of home-improvement books published by Oxmoor House and sold in home-improvement stores has been recalled because the books contain faulty information on repairing electrical wiring. Check your home bookshelves: these are out of print, but might still be in your home or workshop.
- Home: Kohler has recalled bath doors that present a laceration hazard. Aromatherapy kits made by JAKKS Pacific were recalled due to explosion and projectile hazards. Castalon frying pans, made by Tabletops Unlimited, were recalled because of burn hazards. Green Mountain Vista has recalled roman shades that can cause strangulation. Ryobi cordless drill models that can overheat have been recalled.
