I'm a faithful football fan--of one team and one team only (Go Irish!) When my team doesn't play, I don't watch.
For that matter, I don't pay attention to standings, ratings, or any of that.
Being a college-football fan, I watch football on Saturdays, while the rest of my family wants to be doing something else. They insist on eating dinner during the third quarter, often the most-exciting portion of the game. I'm considering declaring every Saturday "Pizza Night" and letting someone else take care of dinner.
But since no one in this house is a true football fan, no one can answer my questions, and no one appreciates my observations. So I've saved my questions and observations from the season so far, so I could share them with all of you.
--Michigan has a very large offensive lineman, appropriately named HUYGE.
--I was impressed enough when they figured out how to show the yellow lines so you'd know where the first-down point was. But now they have this spiffy arrow with the words "1st AND 10" or "2nd AND 4" in it. Players can run over this arrow and it's not affected. It's magic!
--Somersaults in the end zone? Really? At least make it look like an accident, guys.
--Why, after someone has used his head and upper body to send an opposing player into orbit, do his teammates congratulate him by smacking him on the helmet and doing chest bumps? Don't you think he hurts enough already?
