How do you know when it's time to replace your cordless phone set?
When you can't remember how long ago you purchased it? 
When the number "3" doesn't work anymore on one of the handsets?
When you see the marks from where your youngest child used the top of the phone as a teether--and he's now 8 years old?
When the battery charge in the handset doesn't last lone enough for you to check your voice mail?
How about all of the above?
Oh yes--it was definitely time to replace the cordless phone set. Just don't tell that to the old cordless phones. They did not take replacement kindly.
The first thing I did was unplug the phone line and power cord for the main phone base. Immediately, all three handsets went crazy. "Searching for Base" appeared on all the screens. I figured that it couldn't last long, given the lack of battery life on those phones, but they searched for hours until I finally took the phones apart and performed a battery-ectomy.
All I need to do now is figure out if I can change the ring tone on the new phones--it's really annoying. Probably my best bet will be to ask my 8-year-old. He's done teething by now, so the phones will be safe in his hands.
