Fall weather around here is so changeable! This week, we had a sunny, 80-degree Monday, but today we're only expected to hit 62. At night, the temperatures are dropping into the lower 40s. And while everyone needs a jacket or hoodie in the morning, nobody wants to be wearing long sleeves most afternoons. 
It's not too early, though, to start thinking about getting your home ready for winter weather. Around my house, we're working to get rid of the drafts that are working their way in around the edges of doors, windows and even electrical outlets.
There's an outlet right by my desk that is so drafty, it's like sitting next to an open window all winter. Something's going to have to be done about that before it gets too cold; otherwise, I'll be rearranging furniture again so I can be sure to sit in a "warm spot" in the house.
Another problem we're experiencing is right at the front door. The weatherstripping at the bottom of the storm door came off completely at the end of last winter, so there's a half-inch of space for cold air to come streaming in all winter long. It's not easy finding replacement weatherstripping for storm doors. I got a stick-on one, but it didn't stick well, and fell off altogether after three days. Our other option is going to be more difficult to install, as it requires using a hacksaw to trim it to size, and the drilling of holes into the metal storm door. I'm thinking it'll be easier to just replace the storm door and be done with the whole thing!
