Recall: Graco Quattro and MetroLite Baby Strollers
Take a walk on the safe side and check your child's stroller! The Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a recall of two types of Graco strollers--two million strollers in all. This recall of the Quattro and MetroLite models is due to four infant deaths caused by entrapment and strangulations.
This recall involves Graco Quattro Tour™ strollers and travel systems manufactured prior to November 2006 and MetroLite™ strollers and travel systems manufactured prior to July 2007. Consumers are advised to stop using these strollers immediately.
Here's how to check your baby's stroller to see if it's one of the ones being recalled: look for a label at the lower portion of the rear frame, just above the rear wheels or underneath the stroller. All model numbers of strollers included in this recall are listed at the CPSC press release.
Graco is providing a free stroller repair kit to owners of the affected strollers. You can call Graco toll-free at (877) 828-4046 or contact them online to order your repair kit. This repair will prevent an infant slipping between the tray and seat bottom.
Note that if you are using this stroller as a travel system (with a car-seat carrier in place), you do not need to stop using the stroller. The danger only occurs when the stroller is used without the car-seat carrier.
If you've decided that it's time to replace your baby's stroller, we've got plenty of coupons in our Babies' and Kids' Gear department!
