If you know any little kids, from toddler age right on up through elementary school, you know that most of them never met a puddle
they didn't want to jump in.
If you're the parent of a little kid, let me tell you how lucky you are that rain boots are so easily available--and so cute!
Twelve years ago, when my daughter was a toddler, I couldn't find little-kid rain boots anywhere. And that kid was a puddle magnet. Unfortunately for me (and for her shoes and socks), the schoolyard where we had to pick up her older brother was full of potholes that would fill with water after the slightest drizzle. We left that school twice a day (dropoff and pickup) with wet feet. After a very heavy rain, she'd be soaked from the knees down. This would delight her until she realized that we had a 15-minute ride home from school to sit around in her wet things.
But now there are cute rain boots that are the traditional retro yellow, bright green, or even with Mary-Jane shoes painted on. There are froggy boots, ladybug boots, and flower boots. They're all adorable! And when I passed a mom leading her little girl along the sidewalk one recent rainy day, I considered how lucky she was to have found a fun and funky way to keep her little one's feet dry.
