...and you know what that means: fire drills!
One email from a Coupon Hunter here at Ultimate Coupons mentioned that I'm lucky to work from home,
as they had an office fire drill that day. And my kids have been coming home from school reporting on fire drills. Apparently, my daughter's high school gives the teachers advance notice of upcoming drills (so they can work tests around those), and she knew that there would be a fire drill the next morning during history class.
So much for the element of surprise, though I guess it's nice--as the weather's been getting drizzly and chilly lately--to know that you should keep a jacket with you. Or, at the very least, wear long sleeves.
Way back when I was in school, we weren't notified of those drills. We had to stand outside shivering in the cold if it was a wintry-weather day, because we didn't know that we should hang onto our jackets instead of stuffing them in the lockers.
All that is nothing but a memory now, the kind we parents drag out when we want to let our kids know how good they have it. It goes right along with walking several miles to school--barefoot in the snow, uphill both ways.
