It was my privilege to be a guest at a 50th anniversary celebration last weekend. The party
was for a couple whom I have known for over ten years, and their daughter did an amazing job planning this surprise event.
They were definitely surprised, and definitely happy to see so many family members, friends and coworkers there to share their celebration. When they reached the door of the banquet hall and heard a hundred people yelling "surprise," they both stepped back. Their young granddaughter knew what to do, though. She ran toward them and gave them both a big hug.
We all looked at their wedding album, watched them duplicate their first dance, and witnessed the renewal of their wedding vows. They were toasted by their son and daughter, whose words were a lovely testimony to the family that this couple created together.
