I remember doing laundry during my college days. It was always a chore--an expensive, messy chore. I'd have to haul my bag of dirty clothes and my bottles of detergent and fabric softener (this was before the days of Bounce™) down to the gloomy dorm basement. 
When I lived off-campus my senior year, I had to carry all that stuff three blocks to a laundromat--uphill. And in my grad-school days, I had to walk across a parking lot to do the laundry in the grad-student center near my student apartment. Plus, there was the small matter of having the right combination of quarters and dimes to get all my clothes and towels washed.
Mr. College Student has it pretty easy in comparison. First of all, the laundry facilities at his university are free. That's right--no quarters required. I guess they've rolled it into the charge for room and board, so it's not entirely free, but you don't have to pay for your laundry each time you wash it. Besides that, I've found these terrific "laundry sheets" that are a combination of detergent and fabric softener, so he doesn't have to carry any bottles of liquid that might spill all over the dorm staircase on his way to the basement.
At least the basement part hasn't changed, so I can't say he's totally spoiled. But when he came home one recent weekend with only a small duffel bag and his mandolin to carry, I asked where the laundry was. "It's easier to do it here than to carry it home," he told me.
It should be interesting to see how long that lasts. And I am left to wonder if he folds his clothes after he washes and dries them, but it was nice not to have several loads of laundry waiting for me upon his return from the dorm.
