I'm pretty good at finding my way around this area. While we have a GPS, I don't use it much, though it's nice to have if I make a wrong turn, so I can get back on track. 
I'm old school; I'm happiest with a good map (and I know how to use one!)
But all the maps, street atlases, and up-to-date GPS units in the world won't help when you're trying to get to some of the "away games" that my daughter has played in this season. It seems that when some local high schools have more sports than they have athletic fields, they expand into the township-owned property.
Who knew?
When the schedule said that my daughter's game was to be played at Upscale High School, I googled the address of the school and discovered that it's on a main road that I'm reasonably familiar with. I didn't even bother to bring the GPS with me. And I didn't follow the bus, as it was leaving more than two hours before game time--to go to a school that's only twenty minutes from here. But when I got to the school and found the parking lot, I discovered that the only on-campus athletic field is for the football team, and it was occupied by football players at the time.
Fortunately, I ran into a mom pushing a baby stroller through the school campus, and she was able to give me very good directions to the athletic field I needed to find. It was a mile away from the high school, and the route involved four turns and three traffic lights. I'd never have found this on my own, but I managed to get there only about a minute after the game began.
I wish the team would hand out directions to the "away games" to parents--or they'll never see us there.

Barb...I run into the same problem. I look on the away teams website before I go. Most of them will tell you where the freshman are playing and have an address. At least you can mapquest it or, in your case, use your GPS.
