With a high-school freshman and an eight-year-old still at home, my nest is not empty and won't be for quite a while yet.  But two weeks after Mr. College Student moved into the dorm (leaving most of the contents of his room all over the floor), I haven't completely adjusted to his absence.

There's definitely been a change in the amount of laundry that gets done around here, although I expect the biggest drop in laundry to come when Miss Freshman goes off to college four years from now.  But my toughest adjustment is in the area of food.

It's going to take me a while to break out of the habit of buying cases upon cases of Dr. Pepper every time it goes on sale.  And all my dinner recipes need to be recalculated, as they're all set to feed a family of 5.  I don't intend to have a dinner guest every night to compensate for his absence.

In the meantime, we've got lots of leftovers, which Miss Freshman often has for breakfast.  Yes--she'll eat beef stroganoff for breakfast.  At least she's getting a good dose of protein each day!
