I certainly do--especially at night.
With the summer as hot as it's been, we've been keeping the windows closed and the air conditioner on. But that means that I don't get to hear my favorite night-time sounds. Here's what I'm missing: the freight train that rolls by sometime after 2 AM, the occasional owl, crickets, and the wind in the trees. Instead, all I hear is the hum of the blower unit on our air conditioner.
I don't even mind the traffic noise from the highway two blocks away. But the sound of the train is the thing I miss the most. I can't wait until the weather cools down enough so I can leave the windows open and enjoy the night noises.
My kids will say that they don't miss the wake-up calls from the local mockingbird. That guy is loud! He gets started early and can go for as long as twenty minutes without taking a break.
