When you've got boys in the house, the favorite toys almost always include Legos and Nerf guns. I've discovered that no matter how old the boy is, he'll still want to play with those;
my teenagers' friends are always playing with Mr. Third Grader's toys.
One of the most-used toys of all is the humongous Nerf machine gun he got for his birthday. This thing is so big it needs a tripod. Little Nerf bullets are everywhere in my back porch and all over the yard. (Fortunately, we haven't had much rain this summer).
This huge Nerf weapon is also versatile, working with or without batteries. With batteries, you can fire up to 3 darts per second. But a gun this big doesn't work with double-A's. No, this baby requires 6 D batteries.
Those things are heavy, and Mr. Third Grader is no linebacker-in-training. I haven't put the batteries into the toy yet, because I'm afraid that they'll make it too heavy for him to lift!
