My older son is off to college in just six weeks, and I know he won't always be listening to the advice I dish out (more frequently than he'd care to hear it).
But he generally does listen to me when that advice concerns saving money. He likes to spend the money he works hard to earn, but he doesn't like spending more than he has to. And he's not afraid to use a coupon or ask me if I can help him find an online deal. I'm a big fan of those, after all!
My favorite online deals come with FREE SHIPPING attached. We're big fans of Amazon.com around here, since Amazon has just about anything you could want--often with free shipping with a $25 purchase.
But Amazon is offering an even better deal to college students: free TWO-DAY shipping with a full year of Amazon Prime, with no minimum purchase required! That's a $79 value just for signing up with your university email address and major.
In addition to that free shipping which will get you textbooks cheaper than the college bookstore sells them, college students will receive emails alerting them to special student-only deals.
Don't want to use your university email-box space for Amazon stuff? No problem. You only need to use the university email address to sign up. Once your account is created, you can use whichever email address you use for your general-purpose stuff.
You can be sure that I'll be encouraging my son to sign up for Amazon Student as soon as possible--and to pass this information along to his friends. College isn't cheap, so any way a student can save money will be appreciated.
