What grocery deals are in season in July?
It's a great time to buy hot-weather treats.
Ice cream is one category that often sees great sales in July. Just last weekend I scored a fabulous deal on ice cream. My favorite supermarket offered "quart-and-a-half" cartons of one brand for $1.99, limit 4, as well as boxes of pre-made, chocolate-topped ice cream cones for the same price, also limit 4. I got four of each for just under $16, and saved $4 because I had coupons for the cones. Then I got a catalina coupon (the ones that are spit out of the cash register at the end of your shopping trip) for $4 off my next order. That meant I got 8 packages of ice cream for about $8!
Here are some other items (all picnic-friendly!) that will be featured in July's grocery sales:
- Hot dogs
- Ground beef
- Hamburger and hot dog buns
- Condiments (ketchup, mustard, barbecue sauce, relish)
- Salad dressing
- Chips
- Popsicles
- Soda
- Bottled water
- Iced tea mix and bags
And let's not forget the seasonal produce. Jersey tomatoes and corn are in, and they're as delicious as always! If you prefer fruit, look for great prices on blueberries, peaches and watermelons.
