Everybody's got one--maybe more than one. And there's really nothing wrong with that.
It's good, once in a while, to indulge yourself with a guilty pleasure.
For some people, that's a big bowl of popcorn and a cheesy chick flick. For others, it might be a Frappuccino; still others prefer a round of Farmville on facebook.
My guilty pleasure involves a bag of raspberry Milanos and a magazine I picked up at the supermarket. I do subscribe to a few magazines, and it's nice when the next issue comes in the mail. But for some reason, I enjoy a magazine a little more when I'm picking it up on impulse at the checkout counter. My favorite guilty-pleasure magazine is one that might more realistically be titled Real Expensive.
While almost nothing featured in that magazine is in my price range, I love to look at the gorgeously-styled pictures. The page layout is very uncluttered, uncomplicated, even peaceful--especially in comparison to my own surroundings which are usually littered with field-hockey sticks, soccer balls, homemade didgeridoos and an awful lot of books.
There's nothing wrong with a guilty pleasure that isn't too fattening (though that depends on how many of those Milanos I eat) or too expensive (other than the cover price of said magazine). For a good half-hour escape, I highly recommend it.
